Sharing Between Cells

Provisional · Revisable

Move aid between cells by surplus and need, freely and in the open, never by rank or forced relocation.

Overview

Aid between cells is how a network survives the lean season of any single part of it, and it is also the easiest thing in the world to turn into a lever. This technic lets cells carry one another in material terms, freely and in the open. It keeps the plain core of the older material, that cells with more than they need can carry cells that have less, and it removes what that material wrapped it in: a metric of charitable conditioning, a ranking of cells, and a hand that relocated funds from the most profitable to the most charitable.

How it works

Aid begins from surplus offered and not from quota assessed, and it stays reciprocal in regard even where it cannot be reciprocal in kind. The receiving cell owes no rank, no deference, and no debt of loyalty, because a cell that buys standing with its surplus has stopped giving and started purchasing. Each cell decides its own giving; no cell, and no body set above the cells, fixes another’s charity or moves its funds. What was given and received is recorded where both cells and the wider commons can see it, so that a pattern of who carries whom stays visible and can be corrected.

Operation

  1. Let aid begin from surplus offered, not from quota assessed. A cell shares when it holds more than it needs and another holds less, and it names that surplus plainly.
  2. Keep the exchange reciprocal in regard even where it cannot be reciprocal in kind. The receiving cell owes no rank, no deference, and no debt of loyalty for being helped.
  3. Let each cell decide its own giving. No cell, and no body set above the cells, fixes another cell’s charity or moves its funds without its say.
  4. Match aid to need the cells themselves name, rather than to need a third party has scored on their behalf.
  5. Record what was given, received, when, and to what end, where both cells and the wider commons can see it.

Cautions & failure modes

The ledger of obligation. The moment help is tracked as a debt the receiver must repay in loyalty or deference, the sharing has become a lever and agency has begun to pool in the giving cell.

The ranking returns. A measure of which cell is most charitable and which most profitable, with a hand that moves funds to match, is the old structure returning. It gathers the say over giving into whoever holds the metric.

The fixed flow. Watch for one cell settling into the standing source and another into the standing dependent. Aid is meant to move with surplus and need, both of which shift, and a flow fixed in one direction means the coupling has stopped being reciprocal.

Prerequisites

  • More than one cell in contact, at least one with something to spare.
