Where this manual comes from

The technics in this register were not invented. Each was mined from a body of source texts, filtered, and written into the manual's own form. The sources sit in three tiers, and the order matters more than the names.

The quarry. Creating Ethics is the oldest and least coherent source, the long work in which most of this material first appears, unsmoothed and often in forms the manual now refuses. It is ore. It is mined, and it is never treated as settled. It is registered here so a technic's provenance can name it honestly, and it is deliberately not published as a reading text on this site, because raw ore set beside a filtered manual invites a reader to mistake the ore for doctrine. It travels instead with the authoring kit, to the person doing the mining. Not published is not the same as withheld: the quarry ships in tracked source inside the kit, and anyone who downloads the kit or reads the public repository can find it. What it is kept away from is the reader who did not come looking.

The middle layer. Four co-equal texts that have already been carried through the consistency protocol: From Premise to Polity at the scale of a movement and its federation, The Personal Law of Leora at the scale of a people, The Inner Polity at the scale of a single mind, and The Four Suits Progression mapping the technic suite itself. None is senior to the others. Each works the same anatomy at a different scale, which is why a technic can be mined from any of them.

The filter. The Persistence Theorem is not one source among the four. It is the test they are held against, and the test every mined candidate must pass. It sits above the middle layer rather than inside it.

What the filter refuses. Four categories are excluded outright, whatever their source: surveillance and enemy-hunting apparatus, ciphers and clearance structures, licensing that lets one body authorise another to operate, and militant drill and rank. These appear in the quarry. They are named and dropped in the open rather than quietly omitted.

One further constraint governs every entry. A technic teaches a group how to form its own strategy. It never hands one over. Anything that supplies a strategy rather than a method is refused on that ground alone.

New technics are authored from the authoring kit, by people, in whatever tool they choose. Nothing generates them here.

The founding cohort — the first fifty-nine entries — was drafted by the Foundation working with an AI assistant. The kit permits assistance and forbids hiding it, and that rule binds the Foundation first: the disclosure is on Start Here.
